Yes, start by learning the basics about the sign. If you already have planets in Sagittarius, then you are probably expressing it naturally (and by “express“ I don’t mean verbal expression only). Whether or not you have planets in Sagittarius, you need to consider what Jupiter is up to since that is Sagittarius’ ruler, and therefore, traditionally, your chart’s ruler. The tricky part is if the other placements “see” your ascendant and vice versa. If they do see each other then it’s more likely that Sagittarius is being expressed, though not necessarily in the way that you would want all the time. If they don’t see each other, then it’s more work to identify and own the ascendant. But that doesn’t address if Sagittarius is being fully and consciously expressed in alignment with everything else. A thorough answer would examine how all these things are interconnected and how to get more agency over them.
