Kids Shouldn’t Do It, Maybe You Shouldn’t Either, But No Crime Involved
Oct 16, 2025 preface: I said I didn’t have time for longer posts, except I did find this ditty that I started months ago and left unfinished. Reading it over again, I realized now would be the best time to shape it some and share, because… Scorpio, and my favorite holiday.
Magic, Less Theory, More Practice, and Not Amoral
The problem with magic - if we are to think in good vs bad - is not that magic doesn’t work; rather, that magic aligns you with powers and paths that grant access to what you ask for, but not necessarily in conventional or obvious ways. If the latter were available then why do magic in the first place? Maybe I’ll write about that another time; but my point here is that getting what one asked for is not necessarily what one wanted or would want once obtained. And then it has got you. So we’re not absolved of the work or the moral debt delivered with the results. Neither are the results merely a thumbs up, validating our entirety. And what if something nefarious is playing along, just to fuck with us?
If I recall accurately my readings of Jung, I was impressed by his admonition to take a moral stance toward our dreams. Might as well substitute ‘magic’ for ‘dreams’. We are living in space-time, where magic fruits in compliance with those same laws; we interact with others; we incur and inflict cause & effect. And the monkey simulator‘s default setting is BUT ME! Maybe far the heck up there, beyond where one’s identity gets shredded to Nothing, there is absolute Unity… of Emptiness; but down here there are mutability, division, and pain. So, the alchemy of refining one’s leaded soul into gold seems to be a lifelong process, often mislaid in maniacal moonbeams reflecting off of copper and graphite. I don’t believe there are any exceptions. At least on principle, it’s better to operate that way, with respect to one’s self, and to everyone and every-thing else that you encounter on this path.
Now, somebody playing this game might be thinking: well if I’m to be a wizard, witch, manifestor (or pick your preferred appellation), then I’m in charge. Well yes, you are working at self mastery. But in charge of what else, exactly? And why would anything else go along with that agenda? And before anybody thinks I’m saying that I’m an exception or somehow past such considerations, then no, quite the contrary. I have plenty of failures and regrets to prove it. If we’re here, then there’s dark matter to work on.
I try to keep this in mind as we approach Sun in Scorpio; except, Scorpio season already started, just after the equinox when Mars entered his watery, nocturnal domain. I think people were screaming about the eclipse around that time. Anyway, as of this writing, Oct 16, 2025, Mars is still transiting Scorpio, conjunct Mercury, who has no choice but to think and express vigilance, intrigues, plots, and sniper-like aim, fueled by libidinal drive for conquest; also, all manner of shadow… because Lilith is there too. Yes, there is a trine, or helpful aspect, from exalted Jupiter in Cancer. And never is a Martial call to love and war more juiced than when fueled by optimism and entitlement to good luck. Another thing I keep in mind is that a sovereign planet, in this case Mars, is not easily hindered, except in cases such as a square or opposition by another sovereign planet (e.g., Venus in Taurus, or Sun in Leo), which there is not.
Death, A Picture Worth Thousands of Words
I don’t think I will get to write much more on this transit, though I am feeling some space open for shorter drops of Scorpionic themes. Anyway, it’s good to keep alchemy in mind, specifically the operations of putrefaction and transmutation as illustrated by XIII Death in Thoth Tarot, the trump card attributed to Scorpio, pictured above, showing the three symbols or features of the sign: scorpion, snake, and eagle (or phoenix, if you insist, but note the fluid, spiritualized form). Anyway, dissolution and putrefaction are the necessary steps before any rebirth or refinement can proceed. By the time of the exact conjunction, Mars will have moved on. And the Sun rules that 10 degree slice of Scorpio. So yes, Light reigns briefly, promising new life, before descending to Death. The process of spiritual death and rebirth doesn’t happen automatically or easily though; difficult reflection and acceptance are necessary; ritual can help to align with the endeavor, and once it starts it doesn’t go backward (but what does?!). It’s still Scorpio / Death. The Sun descends, the world gets darker, the shadows get longer, the veil gets thinner… and winter hasn’t even started. Alas, forms must dissolve for their essences to be revived from the rot.
This is intense Water Magic, with all caveats attendant. And magic works, so, like, know what you are doing, or just pretend this is my attempt at being artistic. Now, back to pods…
